The maze first

Two tunnels, four corner pellets, three ghosts. Learn the tunnels before anything else, because a chase that looks lost stops being lost the moment you go through one and come out the far side while the ghost is still committed to the middle.

The corner pellets are worth saving. Eating one turns the ghosts pale and edible for a few seconds, and that window is worth 200 a ghost if you have lined them up first.

Ghosts do not think alike

They share the movement rules and disagree about where to go. One heads for you, the others peel off toward their own corner on a timer, then swing back. That is why they arrive from three directions instead of trailing behind you in a line, and it is why the maze never feels solved.

It never came down

The playable version went up in 2010 for the game’s thirtieth birthday and was meant to last two days. It was written properly, in code, with the original ghost behaviour rather than a simplified copy, and the response was big enough that it was given a permanent home instead of being archived.

Most doodles do not get that. The google zipper lasted a day. The wall in google block breaker lasted years and still went.
