Asus shipped 749,000 Chromebooks in Q2 2026, up 66.2% year on year. It was the only one of the five largest manufacturers to grow. Worldwide Chromebook sell-in shipments fell 8.6% to 5,415,000 units in the same quarter, per Omdia. This post covers manufacturer-level units, share and annual change across the three most recent quarters Omdia has published.

How Many Chromebooks Did Each Manufacturer Ship in Q2 2026?

Omdia’s PC Horizon Service counts sell-in shipments to channel. These are units moved to distributors and retailers, not sales to schools or shoppers.

Lenovo led at 1,758,000 units. Acer followed at 1,183,000 and HP at 1,155,000, with Dell fifth at 465,000.

One caveat on the Asus figure. Omdia’s table puts Asus at 7.6% in Q2 2025 and 13.8% in Q2 2026, while the written commentary in the same release describes the move as 8% to 16%. The two do not agree, and the numbers here follow the table.

Lenovo’s share rose from 30.5% to 32.5% while its unit volume fell. That happens when the market contracts faster than the manufacturer does. Model-level detail behind these volumes sits in the retail Chromebook sales rankings.

Chromebook Shipments by Manufacturer Across Three Quarters

The three Omdia releases cited here publish Chromebook manufacturer tables for Q3 2025, Q1 2026 and Q2 2026. Q4 2025 is not among them.

Lenovo’s share barely moves across the three columns. Asus swings from 15.9% to 9.0% to 13.8%.

HP peaked at 23.7% share in Q1 2026 and sat at 21.3% by Q2 2026 while its unit count rose. Dell’s share falls in every column, from 11.3% to 9.2% to 8.6%.

The Others row is the sharpest move on the table, dropping from 5.7% to 1.9% across the three quarters. Regional weighting behind these totals appears in the country-level Chromebook breakdown.

Chromebook Shipments by Manufacturer: Rank Order by Quarter

Asus was also the only top-five manufacturer to grow in Q1 2026, rising 3.5% to 406,000 units. Dell fell hardest that quarter too, down 28.3% to 413,000.

Why Are Chromebook Shipments Falling?

Omdia attributes the Q2 2026 decline to three things: manufacturers deprioritising Chromebooks for low profitability, elevated Q2 2025 volumes when education deployments peaked, and pre-agreed deployments running late.

Omdia also states that memory now accounts for a disproportionately large share of the bill of materials on budget and education-tier devices, which it says makes Chromebooks one of the hardest-hit categories in the current supply-constrained environment.

TrendForce reported on 1 June 2026 that conventional DRAM contract prices rose roughly 93% to 98% quarter on quarter in Q1 2026. Component costs feed directly into Chromebook selling prices.

Education tenders set much of the ranking. Omdia links Lenovo’s Q2 2026 decline to the completion of the first phase of Japan’s GIGA 2.0 School Program, where Lenovo was the primary supplier, and links Asus’s growth to GIGA 2.0, the US K-12 refresh cycle and back-to-school stocking.

Omdia principal analyst Kieren Jessop said in the Q1 2026 release that education deployments were increasingly being deferred and that supply constraints were expected to delay the second phase of GIGA 2.0. Procurement timing of this kind shows up in K-12 district purchasing data and in the Chromebook and iPad split across schools.

Omdia named no specific factor for Dell in the Q2 2026 release. For platform context outside education, see how Chromebooks track against Windows laptop sales.

FAQs

Which manufacturer ships the most Chromebooks?

Lenovo. It shipped 1,758,000 units in Q2 2026 for a 32.5% share of worldwide sell-in shipments, according to Omdia. Acer ranked second at 1,183,000 units and HP third at 1,155,000.

Did any Chromebook manufacturer grow in 2026?

Asus. Shipments rose 66.2% year on year to 749,000 units in Q2 2026, per Omdia. Asus also grew 3.5% to 406,000 units in Q1 2026. Every other top-five manufacturer declined in both quarters.

Can Reddit tell you Chromebook shipments by manufacturer?

No. Reddit threads are discussion, not a measured dataset. Omdia’s PC Horizon Service counts sell-in units to channel and put the worldwide Q2 2026 total at 5,415,000, down 8.6% year on year.

Do Reddit reports of rising Chromebook prices match the data?

The timing lines up. TrendForce reported conventional DRAM contract prices up roughly 93% to 98% quarter on quarter in Q1 2026, and Omdia says memory takes a disproportionate share of budget device costs.
