Typing is where it gets you
Reading a mirrored page is slow but doable. Typing into one is something else. Your hands know the keyboard, the screen disagrees, and the letters march away from the cursor instead of toward it. Most people manage about four characters before they stop and stare.
There is a phrase above the frame and a timer. Get it into the flipped field. It takes longer than you think.
Why anyone bothered
The reversed page started as a novelty in the early 2000s, then picked up a practical use in places where the ordinary page was unreliable and the mirrored copy was not. That gave it a real audience long after the joke had worn out, and it is why google mirror search and google search mirror are still typed in as if they were features rather than a gag.
Two things to try
- Flip vertically as well. Now nothing helps, not even holding your head sideways.
- Play something reversed. People run zerg rush in a mirror and their aim goes with it.
The other kind of throwback is google in 1998, which is perfectly readable and just twenty five years old.
